Why
a pneumatic or gas driven system?
|
|
With a pneumatic gas driven system, we eliminated
all needs for electrical including batteries and the
recharging needs batteries cause. We eliminated
weight needs from alternative automatic lifting systems
like worm screws and hydraulic pumps.
Without the weight of batteries, pumps and steel
screws, we are able to provide a lightweight device
that easy to use and very functional.
|
|
What
weight can be lifted?
|
|
We have tested and validated that our lift, model
500, will provide
350 pounds of lift for a user.
We have a second model lift mechanism, model 600,
that will provide 900 pounds of lift
for a user. Although we have several models of
harnesses for bariatric patients, we continue to work
with medical professionals for all models that might
be needed for this complex market.
|
|
What weight will
the structure support?
|
|
We have rated the model 500 structure at 1200 pounds but have
tested successfully to 2400 pounds ensuring any fall
will be adequately supported.
We have rated the model 600 structure at 2200 pounds but have
tested successfully to 4400 pounds ensuring any fall
will be adequately supported.

Will
Medicare pay for the LIFTnWALK™?
|
|
Medicare typically reimburses for devices
that rehabilitates a condition. Medicare
currently does not have a "lift walker"
category but does have a "lift"
category and a "walker" category.
|
|
How
does the LIFTnWALK™ prevent falls?
|
|
When walking with our harness-gait belt,
the belt is locked by the mechanism and
will hold a user upright.
|
|
Will the LIFTnWALK™
reduce worker compensation costs of a facility?
|
|
The number one injury claim in medical
facilities is due to lifting and handling
patients. In fact, injuries by nurses
and aids are approximately 14 injuries per
100 workers compared to construction workers
that have approximately 7 injuries per 100
workers. The LIFTnWALK™ not only assists
a patient, it can reduce facility workers
compensation claims as it provides valuable
assistance in lifting and assisting patients.
|
Nursing
home patients typically use
wheel chairs or standard gait
walkers. Why should the
LIFTnWALK™ be considered?
|
|
Much research has been done
proving the benefits of walking
and mobility. Nursing
homes and assisted living centers
encourage residents to use a
wheel chair to reduce handling
and falls. With the LIFTnWALK™,
residents can maintain their
independence and walk without
fear of falling and without
aid assistance. The LIFTnWALK™
has an open front allowing users
to perform normal tasks at kitchen
counters and other areas. The
LIFTnWALK™ also can assist users
in bathroom functions with the
toilet and shower. Since
there is no electricity used,
the LIFTnWALK™ is totally safe
around water.
|
|
What
types of rehabilitation is suited
for the LIFTnWALK™?
|
|
Any walking rehabilitation
is assisted by the LIFTnWALK™.
With the LIFTnWALK™, aids
with gait belts are virtually
eliminated. Parallel bar
rehabilitation can be replaced
without "spotters"
for stroke victims, paraplegic
injuries and some quadriplegic
injuries. Stroke victims
can now participate
in rehabilitation walking without
the use of one arm speeding
recovery over bicycle pedaling
rehabilitation.
|
|
Will the LIFTnWALK™
work in a home environment?
|
|
Our current LIFTnWALK™ 500
is 30.5" wide and 77"
high and will fit through any
ADA 36" door. Homes
that have been modified to be
ADA compliant usually can accommodate
the LIFTnWALK™. Homes
that are not ADA compliant frequently
have 24" bathroom doors
with a usual 22" opening
that will not accommodate a
LIFTnWALK™ and, often, a gait
walker without turning it sideways
in the door.
The LIFTnWALK™ is not designed
for use on stairs or curbs or
significant inclines and
should be used outdoors only
in environments away from these
type areas. Additionally,
the casters on the LIFTnWALK™
are best suited for tile or
short pile carpet and plush
carpet or grass will make mobility
difficult.
